The company I worked for closed down in October of 2003 .
And I discovered , finding a job is harder than having a job .
And the companies out there are not making it easy .
Everyone has their own application , they do not want a resume ,
they all want official transcripts from the university I attended .
And official transcripts are 20 $ each . They all want a current ,
original copy of your D M V record .
The D M V charges 5 $ for each of them .
Every state or city job wants a cover letter .
And all the cover letter has to say is ,
" please review my application for the position posted " .
And if there are two or more jobs
at the same agency you wish to apply for .
Guess what ?
You have to fill out an application for each one .
One local city had two positions advertised that I could apply for .
One of the positions I could apply for at the city office . The other
job at the same city office had to go through the local
State Employment Agency ,
and then to the city office . Give me a break .
Now I know why folks that are lucky enough
to swim through all the paper
work and land a federal , state , or local government job never
leave that job . It is too much trouble to find another one .
And I bet the paper work involved in separating from those jobs ,
would make a preacher curse . But ,
that is typical of all of our governments
activity . Make it long , difficult , and repetitive . Maybe we should
respond to them in the same way . The next time any
Government Department calls me .
I think I will have them fill out some paper work that I want .
Nothing important or needed . Just
a few volumes of meaningless junk . And then send it back
to them ,
and request a " Cover Letter " too .
God Bless America . Home of the free . Home of the brave .
And home of Miles and Miles of useless
